Inside the Tamp & Grind x Craft House Coffee partnership.

Deep in West Sussex, there’s a spot for those who refuse to compromise when it comes to coffee. Tamp & Grind (with sites in Lancing, Burgess Hill and Steyning)  cuts straight through the high-street noise. This isn’t your average coffee shop. It’s a masterclass in how to build a space around the values of quality, locality and craft.

But what makes Tamp & Grind consistently stand out against a sea of generic high-street chains? Simple. A shared refusal to blend in and a short, journey from our roastery to their hoppers.

The perfect partnership.

Picking your roasting partner is one of the single biggest calls your specialty coffee shop will make. It sets the bar for everything you pour. For the crew at Tamp & Grind, it wasn’t just about hunting down great beans. They needed a specialty coffee roaster with the same uncompromising approach.

"I got invited to the roastery, met the team and most of all was made to feel like I was their only customer"
- Adam Moseley, Tamp & Grind

Every shop pouring our coffee is a partner. That’s why we build long-term relationships that actually go the distance. By serving Craft House Coffee, Tamp & Grind ensures that every flat white or black coffee they serve supports a local "bean-to-cup" loop.

Roasted around the corner. Brewed at its peak.

Because our roasting floor is just down the road, the beans landing on Tamp & Grind’s counter are roasted days before they're poured; not sitting on shelves. This means our award winning coffees hit the grinder at their peak, post-degassing, locking in their aromas and complex sugars for maximum flavour.

“The coffee tastes incredible. Often, people haven’t ever tried anything beyond a Costa coffee machine or a Starbucks. So when they try a coffee crafted properly, they can taste the difference!”
- Adam Moseley, Tamp & Grind

Supporting West Sussex.

At Craft House Coffee, our CRAFTSTACK™ initiative and ethical sourcing approach only succeed when partners like Tamp & Grind step up to tell the story.

Grabbing a brew at Tamp & Grind doesn't just back a local independent. You're directly supporting the farmers in Nariño, Colombia, Guji Ethiopia, and Sul de Minas, Brazil who we hold great relationships with. Plus, you’re keeping the local economy moving, from the bakers supplying the pastries to our team delivering the fresh roasts.

Q: Beyond the coffee beans, you champion other local independents. Who are some of your favourite Sussex-based makers or bakers currently featured on your menu, and why is that 'local loop' so important to you?

“I think as people get a bit older and money doesn’t go quite as far as it once did, they are seeking value in every purchase they make. There’s nothing worse than buying a food or drink item and being disappointed. When people know the provenance of the item, I think people love the local link. They know they’re not only supporting a small independent coffee shop, but also the suppliers behind it aren’t faceless, multinational business people.”
- Adam Moseley, Tamp & Grind

Adam’s personal pick.

We have a range of coffee strengths, flavours, roasts and origins at Craft House Coffee. We asked Adam, “What is your personal favourite way to drink Craft House coffee when you finally get a break in the shift?”

“Don’t need a break to enjoy a Craft House Coffee, it will always be a flattie (flat white) I think. Cortado is delish, but it’s too short and over too quickly, something longer, like a latte, just doesn’t have the hit of coffee flavour I’m looking for. We also introduced the ‘Melbourne Magic’ at our shops, and that has gone down a storm!”
- Adam Moseley, Tamp & Grind
